Be Still: Reflection
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
I race.
I rush.
I make my plans.
I crash about,
Then don’t understand
Why I can’t hear You
Amid the noise.
The clanging drowns
The gentle sound
Of Your voice
Calling my heart,
Seeking my time.
An invitation
To conversation
With You.
Then things turn sour,
Careen off track.
Or life goes gray,
And I notice
A lack of joy.
Am I outside
The borders of
Your steadfast Love?
Can I travel
Beyond Your grace?
Beyond the sight
Of Your Face?
My soul dries up.
Please, fill my cup
With Your mercy.
Speak, for Your servant is listening.
Be still.
Be.
Rest in Me,
For My Yoke is easy
And My burden is light.
I’ll carry you through
The night,
And sing you to sleep.
Still.
Nothing is sweeter
Than My Presence,
More beautiful
Than My Glory.
Listen to the story
Of My Love.
So be it.
Amen.
Yes.
In the first column of this Lenten series, I invited you to share how you planned to observe this holy season. Please pray for Charlotte, for whom the Good News is especially meaningful this year; she lost her husband of over 61 years in January.
