Bethlehem's Light
Just another night in a forgotten field.
Then the sky split open and glory spilled out.
Angels—more than the hairs on my head—
Singing and singing, their music shaking our bones.
They said the Savior had come.
So we tumbled through the darkness
To the Light.
We ran to the Light.
Just another day begging by the road.
Then I heard He was coming, so I yelled out:
”Son of David, have mercy on me!”
The crowd could not stop my shouting.
Then the Savior called me.
So I stumbled through my blindness
To the Light.
I ran to the Light.
Just another dead-end life.
Then my heart split open and Truth poured in.
”Jesus Christ, have mercy on me!”
Satan could not stop my shouting.
Then the Savior reached for me.
So I fumbled through my darkness
To the Light.
I ran to the Light.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it…He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
